Dr. Gianluca Spena is a highly qualified doctor specializing in urology and
andrology. He currently serves as the medical director at the Department of
Urology, Istituto Nazionale Tumori, IRCCS, “Fondazione G. Pascale” in Italy. He
earned his degree with top marks from Federico II University of Naples and also
obtained a specialization degree in urology from the same university faculty
with the same result. Dr. Spena’s professional career has been enriched by
extensive training in robotic surgery at the Hospital da Luz in Lisbon (Pt),
which is one of the most important centers of excellence and innovation in
Europe and a reference center of the European Society of Urology (EAU) for
robotic surgery. During his training, he performed numerous robotic radical
prostatectomies (RARP), simple prostatectomy (RASP), radical and partial
nephrectomy (RARN and RAPN), and cystectomy (RARC), as well as benign, endoscopic,
and stone surgeries. In 2022, Dr. Spena was awarded the Certificate of
Excellence in Robotic Surgery by the European Association of Urology (EAU). He
is a member of the Italian Society of Urology (SIU), the European Association
of Urology (EAU), and the American Association of Urology (AUA).
Giovanni Pagano is a professor at the
Department of Neuroscience, Reproductive Sciences, and Dentistry, School of
Medicine, University of Naples “Federico II”, Naples, Italy. He has been a
senior scientist at the Italian National Cancer Institute in Naples, Italy and
a contractor scientist at the University of Naples Federico II, Italy. He is a
visiting professor at various universities in France, Greece, and Croatia. He
has 40 years of experience in environmental research, including projects
supported by grants from the European Commission and the North Atlantic Treaty
Organization.
Dr. Matteo Ferro is an MD PhD, who holds a specialty in urology. He is an assistant at the Division of Urology IRCCS–European Institute of Oncology, Milan. He has been working with prostate cancer biomarkers and coordinates at the University of Study "Federico II" of Naples, the evaluation of p2Psa and Phi, for detection of prostate cancer at the initial biopsy for the prostate cancer aggressiveness stratification. He received his Master of Translational Medicine at the University Study of Salerno. Dr. Matteo Ferro is the author and co-author of about 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and he served as a reviewer for several international peer-reviewed journals. He is also a member of the Italian Society of Urology, the Italian Society of Urologic Oncology, and the European Association of Urology. His research Interests include medicine cancer biology, urology, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, renal cancer, prostate carcinoma, and prostate-specific antigen.
Dr. Antonio Tufano is affiliated with the Department of
Maternal-Child and Urological Sciences, Policlinico Umberto I Hospital,
Sapienza University of Rome in Rome, Italy. Dr. Tufano is the guest editor of the
Special Issues “Neoadjuvant Immunotherapy in Genitourinary Tumors” and “Current
Applications of Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound Imaging in Kidney Lesions” in
MDPI. Dr. Tufano’s research interests mainly focus on urology, uro-oncology,
andrology, kidney stones, urolithiasis, incontinence, CEUS, contrast-enhanced
ultrasound, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, prostate cancer, penile cancer, and reflux.
Dr. Tufano’s scientific output includes 52 publications in various journals with
an h-index of 9 (Scopus, March 2024).
Pierluigi Russo is a
resident in the field of urology at the Department of Urology, Fondazione
Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli, located in Italy. He received his
degree from the University of Messina and obtained a specialization with honors
in urology from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Rome in October
of 2023. In 2023, he completed a research and clinical fellowship at Radboud
University of Nijmegen. Additionally, he holds a second-level Master’s degree in
Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
Dr. Sisto Perdonà graduated in medicine and surgery with a specialization in urology. He obtained a II level Master in Healthcare Management at the University of Naples “Federico II” and II level Master in Robotic Urological Surgery at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University-Milan. He was a training intern at Cleveland Clinic - Cleveland OHIO USA. He participated in the Department of Urology in the Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute International Observership Program, Center for Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery. Since 1997, he has held medical management roles in various hospital structures. Since 2017, he has been the Director of the S.C. of the National Cancer Institute I.R.C.C.S Foundation “G. Pascale” of Naples.
