Prof. Emanuele Marzetti is a board-certified Geriatrician, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, and the Director of the Orthogeriac Unit at the Department of Geriatrics, Orthopedics and Rheumatology
of the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario "Agostino Gemelli" IRCCS at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Rome, Italy). He is also the Scientific Director of the Biogerontology lab of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Rome, Italy). From 2008 to 2010, Prof. Marzetti held a Lecturer position in Biochemistry of Aging at the University of Florida (Gainesville, FL, USA). His research focuses on the mechanisms responsible for skeletal muscle and cardiovascular aging, with a special interest in mitochondrial pathophysiology, as well as the factors leading to frailty and disability in older adults with chronic degenerative conditions.
Dr. Biliana Lozanoska-Ochser received her BSc degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Westminster in 1998. She earned her MSc degree in Human Metabolism (2000) and her MSc degree in Medical Immunology (2003) from the University of Aberdeen. She completed her PhD studies in Immunology at the King’s College London in 2007. From 2020 to 2021, she worked as a Contract biologist at ARIS. Today she is a Researcher at the LUM Giuseppe Degennaro University. She is also a member of the Editorial Board Frontiers in Bioscience.
Dr. Hélio José Coelho-Júnior is a board-certified Exercise Physiologist and Postdoctoral Fellow in Geriatrics at the Department of Geriatrics and Internal Medicine (Catholic University of the Sacred Heart School of Medicine, Rome, Italy). He received his PhD (2016–2019) and master’s degrees (2014–2016) in exercise physiology at the University of Campinas. He performed a specialization training in human physiology at the University Estacio de Sá, in 2013. He received his bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology at the University of Mogi das Cruzes (2010–2014). During this period, he performed a two-year scientific training. In 2018, Dr. Coelho-Junior remained as a PhD visiting student for 6 months at the Department of Geriatrics, Neurosciences, and Orthopedics (“Agostino Gemelli” Teaching Hospital) of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Rome, Italy. He has received many awards for his work with older adults. Notably, his PhD thesis was awarded by the Brazilian federal government as one of the best three of 2019. His research focuses on the effects of different
types of exercise training on older adults with different conditions. Additionally, Dr. Coelho Júnior is interested in the association between health-related parameters, such as physical function and nutritional habits, and sarcopenia and physical frailty.
