Livio Vitiello is a Medical Doctor at the Eye Unit of "Luigi Curto" Hospital, Polla, Salerno, Italy, with research focused on ophthalmology, clinical ophthalmology, optical coherence tomography, and retinal imaging.
Prof. Giuseppe Giannaccare, M.D., Ph.D., is an Italian Ophthalmologist who earned his medical degree at the University of Rome “Campus Bio-Medico” in 2009 and completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Bologna in 2015. In 2017, he obtained his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Bologna, defending a thesis on ocular graft versus host disease. He is the author of several abstracts, papers, and book chapters. He is also an editor and reviewer for several international journals focused on ophthalmology and medicine. He is a co-author of translations from English to Italian of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Guidelines and has been the recipient of several international grants. Currently, he is serving as a researcher at the University of Bologna and Cornea and Anterior Segment Specialist at S. Orsola-Malpighi Hospital in Bologna (Italy). He belonged to the Young Ophthalmologist Directive Committee of the European Society of Ophthalmology (YO SOE) from 2015 to 2017; currently, he is the National Representative for Italy for the YO SOE. His main research areas concern medical and surgical pathologies of the cornea, such as dry eye disease, ocular graft versus host disease, and corneal neurotization, among others.
