Author Biographies

Prof. Dr. Antonio Scarano received his degree in Dentistry at “G. D’Annunzio” University in Chieti with honors in 1990, his degree in Medicine at “La Sapienza” University in Rome in 2004, and his Specialization in Oral Surgery at “La Sapienza” University in Rome with honors. Currently, he is a Full Professor at the University of Chieti-Pescara. He is a Member of the Academy of Osseointegration (AO) and the Board of Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research. He has co-authored more than 500 papers in international peer-reviewed journals; most of these papers have dealt with implant dentistry and biomaterials. His main research interests are immediate loading and bone response to different biomaterials.

Prof. Sergio Alexandre Gehrke holds doctorate degrees in two fields: the first is a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Pontificia Catholic University, Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 2010, and the other is an International Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the Universidad Miguel Hernandez, Elche/Alicante, Spain, obtained in 2020. In 2018, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Materials Engineering in the NUCLEMAT of Pontificia Catholic University, Porto Alegre, Brazil. He is currently the Director of the Postgraduate Program in Implantology of the Bioface/UCAM/PgO (Montevideo, Uruguay), Director of the Cathedra of Biotechnology of the Catholic University of Murcia (Murcia, Spain), an Extraordinary Full Professor of the Catholic University of Murcia (Murcia, Spain), as well as the Director of the private research center Biotecnos-Technology and Science (Montevideo, Uruguay). Applied biomaterials, cellular and molecular biology, and dental implants are among his research interests.
Francesco Inchingolo, MD, DMD, O.M.F.S, M.P.H., is a Researcher and Assistant Professor in Dentistry at the School of Medicine, University of Bari ‘Aldo Moro', Italy. He is also the Head of the International Master’s Degree Course in Advanced Oral Surgery and Implant Surgery and the Principal Investigator in various research projects founded by the University of Bari ‘Aldo Moro’. He is the winner of the “Sant’ Apollonia Award” from ANDI (Italian Dental National Association) in the year 1999 for the best clinical and scientific report in Dental Sciences. His research interests include medicine and dentistry, stem cells, platelet-derived growth factors, endodontics, geriatric dentistry, implantology, oral and maxillofacial pathology and surgery, oral biology and medicine, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, prosthodontics, dermatology, immunology, microbiology, public health and preventive medicine, biotechnology, sleep medicine, biochemistry, and dental hygiene. He is one of the top 2% of scientists in the world, as evaluated by Stanford University in 2022 and 2023.
