Yunsong Kong is currently a graduate student in Prof. Feng Zhou's research group at the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics. He received his B.Sc. degree from Northwestern Polytechnical University in 2021. In 2022, he was admitted to the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. His ongoing research focuses on the construction and friction mechanism of the bionic smart lubrication soft contact interface.

Dr. Shuanhong Ma is a Researcher at the National Key Laboratory of Lubricant Materials at the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Lanzhou, China. He is also a Graduate Tutor at the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a recipient of the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars. In 2016, he obtained his doctorate from the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests include friction control and lubrication at soft contact interfaces. He has published over 60 papers as the first (corresponding) author in journals such as Matter, Nat. Commun., Adv. Mater., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. and Adv. Funct. Mater., with more than 3000 citations. He has been granted more than 20 patents and participated in writing several monograph chapters. He was selected for the Young Talent Support Project Program of the Mechanical Engineering Society of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology in 2017. In 2018, he was selected as a member of the innovation team of the Ministry of Science and Technology in the key areas. He was inducted as a member of the CAS Youth Innovation Promotion Society in 2019. In 2021, he received a grant from the Gansu Outstanding Youth Fund Program and became a youth member of the International Society for Bionic Engineering. In 2023, he was honored with the Wen Shizhu Maple Leaf Award - International Young Scholar Award.

Prof. Dr. Feng Zhou is a Full Professor at the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He gained a Ph.D. in 2004 and then spent three years (2005–2008) working in the Department of Chemistry, University of Cambridge, as a Research Associate. In 2018, he was appointed Director of the State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication at the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS. In the same year, he was appointed Deputy Director of the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS. In 2022, he was appointed Director of the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences Chairman, and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee. His research interests include the surfaces/interfaces of soft matter, functional coatings with extreme wetting and tunable adhesion, engineering coatings for oil seal, drag-reduction and antibiofouling, and biolubrication. He has published over 600 papers in journals such as PNAS, Matter, Nat. Commun., Adv. Mater., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Chem. Soc. Rev., and JACS, with more than 20,000 citations.
