Dr. Heng Cai is currently affiliated with the School of System Design and Intelligent Manufacturing, Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen, China. From 2021 to 2022, he has been at the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, KU Leuven, as a Visiting Scholar. He completed his Ph.D. studies at the School of Mechano-Electronic Engineering, Xidian University, in 2023. His research interests are composites, micromechanics, elasticity, mechanical properties, material characterization, mechanics of materials, and multiscale modeling.

Dr. Yuan Chen serves as an assistant professor at the Southern University of Science and Technology. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of Sydney in 2019. From 2019 to 2022, he was an ARC postdoctoral research associate at the University of Sydney, focusing his research on mechanism analysis, damage prediction, structural design advanced manufacturing, etc. for composite materials and structures. His research interests are mostly concentrated on the additive manufacturing of composite materials, the design and computational analysis of composite structures, topological and structural optimization for metamaterials and advanced composites, etc., and he has attained a series of significant achievements. Currently, he is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key Research and Development Program of China, the Guangdong University Key-Area Special Program, etc., and he was a national project reviewer for the National Science Centre (NCN), Poland. He is also a professional member of several renowned academic societies and organizations, such as the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), the European Materials Research Society, etc.
