Vanessa Castelli, PhD in Clinical Medicine, is currently an Assistant Professor in Pharmacology. Her research activity focuses on the study of potential therapeutic approaches for various pathologies currently without effective treatments, including neurological disorders, stroke, Parkinson's, and neuropathic pain, using both in vitro and in vivo models. Scientific skills have been refined over the years thanks to the assignment of research projects (fellowships) at qualified foreign universities (University of Birmingham in 2016, and University of South Florida in 2019) and the participation of numerous courses, the most important of which is the course in “Safety Pharmacology in Drug Development” at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. Despite her young age, Dr. Castelli has authored over 60 peer-reviewed scientific publications, and she is active as an Editor and Reviewer in several international journals. She is also a Principal Investigator of projects financed by both Pharmaceutical Companies and the University. Her active collaboration with pharmaceutical companies has allowed her to participate in the development of a European patent. Her research activity is also characterized by various national and international collaborations, which have allowed her to acquire a certain scientific maturity.
