John J. Marini is a professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota. He achieved his medical qualifications at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland (USA) and the University of Washington, Seattle. He is a member of numerous editorial boards and an author of more than 400 scientific and educational articles. His investigative work has always concentrated on understanding the cardiopulmonary physiology and management of acute respiratory failure, with an emphasis on patient and ventilator interactions that occur during critical illness.
