Dr. Anna Tankiewicz-Kwedlo is an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacodynamics at the Medical University of Bialystok. She was a Member of the Working Group for Ph.D. Course of the Faculty Team of Quality Assurance and Improvement of Education (until 2019), a member of the Working Group for the course of Pharmacy of the Faculty Team of Quality Assurance and Improvement of Education (from 2019), a second-year supervisor of the first-degree studies in Cosmetology (from 2019), and an expert of the Polish Accreditation Committee (from 2020). She is also a Member of the National Council of Laboratory Diagnosticians (2003–present). Her research areas include the scientific achievements of tryptophan metabolism by the kynurenine pathway in various pathological conditions, such as kidney failure, anemia, and allergic diseases; metabolic disorders in the course of recurrent and symptomatic atrial arrhythmia; the influence of exogenous erythropoietin on the development of colorectal cancer; experimental pharmacotherapy used in colorectal cancer and breast cancer.
Prof. Dariusz Pawlak is head of the Department of Pharmacodynamics at the Medical University of Bialystok. He completed his PhD studies at the Medical University of Białystok. His current research interests include the uremic toxins—indoxyl sulfate and other tryptophan degradation products— in skeletal homeostasis disorders; preclinical studies on the 1,2,4-triazine derivatives as a potential anti-cancer drug; the use of enzymatic inhibitors as a new strategy to treat osteoporosis in the experimental model of chronic renal failure. He has been a member of the Polish Pharmacological Society from 1995 (serving as chairman of Division in Bialystok 2013–2016), the Polish Society of Toxicology from 1994, and the Royal Osteoporosis Society (2016–2018), and the Committee on Circulation and Breathing of the Committee of Physiological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (1996). He has also served as an expert for the National Science Centre (from 2011) and The National Centre for Research and Development (from 2013).
