Dr. Ion Vetres is an Assistant Professor of Equipment and
Transport at the Department of Mechanical Machinery, Polytechnic University of
Timisoara, Timișoara, Romania. Dr. Ion Vetres earned, from the Polytechnic
University of Timisoara, a Master's Degree in 2008 and a Ph.D. in 2011. Dr. Ion
Vetres’s research topics mainly include mechanical engineering, investigation
of the lower atmosphere with multichannel LIDAR systems, and laser principles.
Ioana Ionel graduated as a mechanical engineer, became a technological engineer, and embarked on research connected to clean combustion technologies, starting with her Ph.D. research on the US influence on lignite combustion. By 1990, she became an Alexander von Humboldt fellow and collaborated with several German and European research groups. She habilitated at the Technical University Munich with a study concerning the pollution generated by Romanian power plants. She is a guest professor at universities in Germany, Austria, Japan, and Great Britain. In Romania, she laid the foundation for an accredited laboratory for air quality monitoring. She is coordinating the Research Center in her department. She holds 10 patents and has published over 36 books and more than 140 WOS papers recognized in the field of air quality and dispersion modeling, CO2 capture, biogas production, waste utilization, renewable energy sources, and clean combustion, including internal combustion engines, flue gas cleaning technologies, biofuels, and thermodynamic analysis. Since she was nominated as a Ph.D. coordinator, she has successfully supported 27 Ph.D. students. She has conducted over 300 national and international projects. Presently, she is an emeritus professor at the Politehnica University in Timisoara and a member of several national and international professional associations (ex. Verein der Deutschen Inginieure, American Romanian Academy of Arts and Sciences).
