Author Biographies

Eva Gerold received her bachelor's and master's degrees in industrial environmental protection and process engineering from the University of Leoben, Austria, in 2017 and 2018, respectively, and her Ph.D. in 2021. She is a researcher at the Chair of Nonferrous Metallurgy, University of Leoben. She leads the working group on recycling of lithium-ion batteries. Her research interests focus on hydrometallurgy; extractive metallurgy; recycling of lithium-ion batteries; hydrometallurgical recycling of metal-bearing residues; biohydrometallurgy; bacterial leaching; and lithium-ion batteries.
Helmut Antrekowitsch received his master’s degree in Metallurgy from the University of Leoben in 1994, and a Ph.D. in 1998. He is Professor of Nonferrous Metallurgy at the University of Leoben, Austria. His research interests mainly focus on Al–Mg–Si alloys primary metallurgy; recycling of nonferrous metals; pyro- and hydrometallurgy of nonferrous metals; and the material science of nonferrous metals.
