Dr. Amit Kunwar received his MSc degree in Biotechnology from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in 2003 and joined the Radiation & Photochemistry Division, BARC in 2005. Subsequently, he completed his PhD degree in Chemical Sciences from the Homi Bhabha National Institute in 2010. He carried out his postdoctoral research at Meakins Christie Laboratories, McGill University, 2012-2014. His current research interests focus on the chemico-biological evaluation of pharmacologically active organo-selenium compounds, nanoformulations, and natural products for antioxidant, radioprotective and anticancer activities and understanding their mechanisms of actions. He is the recipient of Archives of Biochemistry Biophysics Young Investigator Award” in 2007 from the society of Free Radical Research, India, “Lester Pecker Young Investigator Award” in 2010 from the Oxygen Club of California, USA, “Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award” from HBNI in 2010, “Young Scientist Award” in 2011 from the Department of Atomic Energy India, “Richard and Edith Strauss Postdoctoral Fellowship in Respiratory Medicine” from McGill university, Canada in year 2013 and Young Scientist Award from Indian Academy of Biomedical Sciences in year 2020. He is the elected “Fellow of Maharashtra Academy of Sciences” of India. He has published more than 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals with an h-index of 28 (Scopus, February 2024).
