Dr Blasi is a Professor of Respiratory Medicine, at the Department of Pathophysiology and Transplantation of the University of Milan. He is a former President of European Respiratory Society (ERS) 2012-13 and former President of Società Italiana di Pneumologia/Italian Respiratory Society (SIP/IRS) 2015-17. He is the President of the Italian Cystic Fibrosis Society (SIFC) 2023-2025. He published more than 500 papers in international journals.
Dr. Michela Sabbatucci achieved a master’s degree in Biological Sciences in 2003 at the Sapienza University of Rome and completed her Ph.D. training in Medical Microbiology and Immunology in 2008 at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” while serving the Italian Institute of Health (ISS) in Rome, Italy. In 2015, she joined the EUPHEM program organized by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) to broaden scientific competencies and apply research laboratory expertise to actively contribute to the promotion of global public health. Since 2018, she has been seconded at the Italian Ministry of Health, dealing with antimicrobial resistance—AMR, healthcare-associated infections—HAI, and vaccination programs.
Dr. Andrea Zovi is a full-time pharmacist health officer who works at the Italian Ministry of Health. In 2019, he obtained a postgraduate degree in Hospital Pharmacy. During this period, he received practical training at Luigi Sacco Hospital - University Pole. He conducted research in the field of prescriptive appropriateness of medicines, in particular antimicrobial drugs, reviewing the scientific literature and producing reports and evaluation forms, with a focus on the surveillance of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial resistance in the hospital setting. Since 2021, he has worked in the food safety field, and his main duties are the evaluation of compliance in terms of labeling and the label composition of food supplements notified to the Italian Ministry of Health, as well as the receipt of notifications and conformity assessment of foods for specific groups (gluten-free foods, and foods for special medical purposes). Moreover, he participates in the European Head of Agency group on food supplements. Since November 2022, he has been enrolled in the Ph.D. course of pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and food sciences promoted by the University of Camerino, and he is conducting a project research entitled “Pharmaceutical and regulatory science strategies to assure patient access to medicinal products and food for specific groups in the healthcare setting”.
