Dr. Carrie Liu Currier is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science at Texas Christian University. She completed her BA at the University of Michigan and her Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Arizona. She is also the Director of the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) in North Texas, an initiative funded by the Freeman Foundation to facilitate teaching and learning about East Asia in elementary and secondary schools nationwide. Her research focuses on Asian politics, international relations and global political economy, and the experiences of Asian Pacific Americans in the academy, and her publications are in the following areas: economic reform in China, China’s foreign policy with the Middle East, China’s energy policy and pursuit of resources, China’s one-child policy and its social implications, the politics of entrepreneurship in Taiwan and China, and Asian Pacific Americans in higher education.
