Prof. Sumit Barthwal received his Ph.D. (2016) in nanochemistry from Kookmin University, Seoul, South Korea. At present, he is working as a research professor in the Nano Mechatronics Lab at Kookmin University. His research interests include surface coating, micromaterials/nanomaterials, bio-inspired coating, surface wettability, anti-icing, corrosion resistance, nanocomposites, multifunctional coating materials, superhydrophobic/hydrophilic surfaces, anti-bacterial, oil/water separation, and gas sensors. His recent research interests include the surface treatment of metal surfaces to develop highly durable anti-icing/anti-frosting surfaces with delayed icing and low ice-adhesion properties and an anti-bacterial coating. He has published more than 20 peer-reviewed scientific papers in prestigious journals, including two book chapters. He has seven patents, including one US patent on the fabrication of an oil separator with a nanorod surface layer inside. He also served as a reviewer for several international journals.
