Prof. Dr. Fernando Remião is an Associate Professor with Habilitation at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP), Director of the Integrated Master's in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Member of the Scientific Council of FFUP. He graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences from FFUP in 1993. He obtained his Ph.D. in Toxicology from FFUP in 2002, after a brief period of research in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Southern California (USA). In July 2015, he obtained his “Título de Agregado” [Habilitation] in Toxicology. He is also a Senior Researcher in the Toxicology Group of UCIBIO—Applied Molecular Biosciences Unit (REQUIMTE). His research interests include LC/ms, cardiotoxicity, mitoxantrone, membrane transporters, toxicokinetics, bioactivation, metabolism, etc.
Renata Silva is a Senior Researcher at the UCIBIO Applied Molecular Biosciences Unit, Laboratory of Toxicology, Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto. She earned her MSc in Toxicology, in 2006, at the University of Aveiro, and her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Specialty of Toxicology, at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP), in 2013. She works in the areas of Medical and Health Sciences, with an emphasis on Basic Medicine, highlighting the Toxicology, Pharmacology and Pharmacy fields. Her work is focused on the elucidation of the toxicological profile of drugs of abuse, as well as in the field of neurodegeneration and drug discovery, aiming at identifying new disease-modifying drugs with potential clinical purposes in neurodegenerative diseases.
