Prof. Dr. Felipe Lombó earned his PhD in Biology in 1998 from the University of Oviedo, Spain, and he is currently a Full Professor in the area of Microbiology at this University. His research interests include the development of new anti-tumors (from bacterial or plant origin), antibiotics (to prevent infections by biofilms), and nutraceuticals (flavonoids, stilbenes, etc.) for the development of functional foods and for their industrial production in bacterial (Streptomyces) factories, improved by genetic engineering.
