Dr. Harleen Kaur Dhaliwal has a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Nutritional Sciences, University of Alberta. Dr. Harleen's major research interests lie in investigations of Food Microbiology and Safety; Food Processing; Food Science and Technology; and Food Analysis.
Dr. Lihui Du is an Associate Professor at Ningbo University. She received her Bachelor's degree in Food Quality and Safety at the Northwest A & F University in 2011 and her Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology at the University of Alberta in 2016. Dr. Lihui Du stayed at the institute to engage in postdoctoral research at the University of Alberta from 2016 to 2018. She previously worked at Kinnikinnick Foods Inc. as a Product Development Scientist and Principal Scientist from 2019 to 2021. She has 10+ years of food research and product development experience from both academia and industry. With a robust skill set that includes Food Science, Protein Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chromatography, HPLC, and more, Dr. Lihui Du contributes valuable insights to the industry.

Dr. Krzysztof Szczyglowski is a Research Scientist at the London Research and Development Centre, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), London, Ontario, Canada. His major research interests lie in investigations of beneficial plant-microbe interactions, symbiotic nitrogen fixation, root system architecture, and plant nutrition. He is working with the DMI team to develop synthetic biology tools for nitrogen-fixing symbiotic bacteria called rhizobia.
Dr. M. S. Roopesh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Alberta. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from Kerala Agricultural University in 2004, his Master’s degree in Post-Harvest Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in 2006, and his Ph.D. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering (Food Engineering) from Washington State University in 2012. He worked as a Research Associate in Low-Moisture Food Safety Engineering at Washington State University from 2012 to 2015. In 2016, he joined the University of Alberta as an Assistant Professor and became an Associate Professor in 2022. His research areas include the antimicrobial applications of atmospheric cold plasma; agricultural and environmental applications of atmospheric cold plasma; sanitation, disinfection & cleaning in the food processing industry; agri-food processing & engineering; wastewater treatment; micro/ultrafine (nano) bubble technologies; and UV LED applications.
