Lauren Gollahon is a Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Biological Sciences at Texas Tech University. She obtained her MSc degree in Zoology in 1986 and completed her Ph.D. studies in Veterinary Anatomy in 1990 at Texas A&M University. During her postdoctoral training at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center, she switched to breast cancer research. This broad background and understanding of biological systems allow her to identify patterns that emerge from molecular and cellular pathways and integrate them into a contextual framework for potential application-based knowledge in health-related fields. Her ongoing research involves understanding aspects of breast cancer development, progression, and metastasis, as well as testing candidate anticancer agents. She has active projects with colleagues in nutritional sciences and animal sciences.
