Prof. Dr. Marco Simões is an Invited Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatics Engineering, University of Coimbra, and a researcher at CIBIT/ICNAS and CISUC/DEI from the University of Coimbra. Marco Simões mainly focuses on developing data science-based approaches applied to Neuroimaging (EEG and fMRI) and Virtual Reality simulations, aiming for improvements in the diagnosis and rehabilitation of neurodevelopmental (and other) disorders. Marco Simões received a Ph.D. and MSc (Department of Informatics Engineering) from the University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal.
Prof. Dr. Carla Vitorino graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2007 from the University of Coimbra, and received her Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, in the specialty of Pharmaceutics, in 2013. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor in the Pharmaceutical Technology area at the same institution. Carla Vitorino is an integrated researcher at the Coimbra Chemistry Centre, currently a part of the associate laboratory Institute of Molecular Sciences. Her main research interests are nanotechnology, controlled release, and the development of new drug delivery systems from a Quality by Design perspective. Carla Vitorino published 79 articles in international journals, with an h-index of 27, and 2710 citations. She is a member of the editorial board of 4 journals and has been a reviewer in 23 international scientific journals; 4 International Patent applications resulted from the projects she coordinated/collaborated on, and she received the Young Investigator Award of Bioinspired and Biomimetic Delivery Focus Group, CRS2021. She has contributed to teaching at the FFUC through coordination and collaboration in 16 curricular units (4 as coordinator), of the Biomedical Pharmacy and Bioanalytical Sciences, Int Master in Pharm Sciences, Master in Pharm Technology (current Coordinator), DrugsR&D and Pharmaceutical Sciences Doctoral Programs, and supervision of undergraduate, MSc and Ph.D. students. She is a supervisor of 2 Ph.D. and 6 master's students (concluded).
Prof. Dr. Filipa Mascarenhas-Melo has been an Assistant Professor (Higher School of Health) of the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda from 2023 to the present. She previously was an Invited Assistant Professor at Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra from 2020 to 2023. She mainly focuses on Dermopharmaceutical formulations, Delivery Systems, Nanotechnology, Nanomaterials, Biomaterials, 3D Printing, Medical Devices, Quality Assurance, Biomarkers and Cardiometabolic Risk. Indeed, Filipa Mascarenhas-Melo already published 36 articles indexed in WoS and her work has been cited by more than 700 documents and has an h-index of at least 14.
