Markus Wolfien received a Master’s degree in medical biotechnology and a PhD degree with a focus on customized workflow development and omics data integration concepts in systems medicine from the University of Rostock. He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Department of Systems Biology and Bioinformatics, Institute of Computer Science, University of Rostock. He focuses on the needs of experimental researchers and develops flexible workflows for the joint analysis of low- and high-throughput data, such as clinical blood measurements, protein expression, RNA sequencing data (bulk, single cell, and spatial), and environmental information. He combines state-of-the-art tools, including R, Python, Galaxy, Conda, and Docker and further downstream analysis approaches, such as network analyses or machine learning (classical ML and deep learning). His work highly facilitates the use of Systems Medicine approaches in a clinical setting and, thus, supports improved diagnosis, prevention, and therapy.

Shuzo Kobayashi is the Executive Director (CEO) of Shonan Kamakura General Hospital, Executive Managing Director of Tokushukai Medical Group, Visiting Professor at the Department of Medicine, Yokohama City University, and Visiting Professor at the Department of Medicine, Dodoma University, Tanzania. In July 2022, he took up the post of executive director. To date, he has been committing himself to the post of vice director and deputy director of the hospital from Internal Medicine, believing in the utmost mission of improving the quality of medical care in the hospital. He has visited 14 countries in Africa to provide support for medical care in the area of renal medicine.
