Author Biographies

DeGaulle I. Chigbu is a Professor at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Abia State University in Nigeria in 1992, a Master of Science degree with distinction from City, University of London in 2004, and a Master of Science degree in Immunology from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2016. He is a Fellow of the College of Optometrists (UK), the American Academy of Optometry, and the British Contact Lens Association. He is a Diplomate of the Comprehensive Eye Care section of the American Academy of Optometry. His research interests focus on ocular diseases, ocular microbiology, and ocular immunology.
Nicholas J. Karbach received his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology from Grove City College and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University’s Pennsylvania College of Optometry. In 2018, he completed his residency at TEI with a focus on ocular disease. He is an Assistant Professor at Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. His research interests mainly focus on primary care; ocular disease; and special-needs populations.

Dr. Navpreet K. Hehar is an assistant professor at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. She graduated from Wayne State University with a bachelor’s degree in honors biology. She then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Michigan College of Optometry in 2016. The following year, Dr. Hehar completed her residency at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans’ Affairs Medical Center focusing on ocular disease, low vision and contact lenses. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and currently works as clinical faculty at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia.
