Suman Sharma is pursuing a Ph.D. in Plant and Environmental Sciences at New Mexico State University (NMSU). Suman Sharma received a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Horticultural Science and a Master’s degree in Vegetable Breeding from Punjab Agricultural University. Suman Sharma is also a Graduate Research Assistant working for the onion breeding program, focusing on the development of disease-resistant cultivars through the integration of conventional breeding, metabolomics, and genomics.
Jiffinvir S. Khosa is the Vegetable Breeder at the Department of Vegetable Science, Punjab Agricultural University. He received his B.Sc. Agri (Hons.) and his M.Sc. from Punjab Agricultural University, and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Otago. His research is focused on the genetics and breeding of onion for economically important traits.
Subhankar Mandal is an Assistant Professor at the CISA—School of Applied Sciences and Arts, Arizona State University. He earned a Master’s degree in Vegetable Crops from Punjab Agricultural University, and a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Plant and Environmental Sciences from the New Mexico State University. He received the Root and Bulb Vegetable Crop Germplasm Committees’ award (U.S. Department of Agriculture) and a Junior Research Fellowship (India). He was an American Society for Horticultural Science Outstanding Graduate Student and has contributed significantly to Fusarium disease resistance breeding in onions.
