Tomljenoviċ Borer, Ph.D., is a Professor Emerita in the School of Kinesiology, the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor Michigan. She earned both her B.A. (1962) and Ph.D. (1966) degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. Her professional career as an Assistant (1987), Associate (1981), and Full Professor (1988–2008) was at the University of Michigan. Her research explores mechanisms of energy regulation, regulatory and nonhomeostatic, which partition nutrient energy between growth and stable adult body mass in response to exercise, nutrition, and hormonal sequelae. This research was supported by five National Science Foundation and two National Institutes of Health grants. She is a member of the Endocrine Society, American Physiological Society, and American College of Sports Medicine. She has published two monographs, Exercise Endocrinology (2003) and Advanced Exercise Endocrinology (2013), 15 book chapters, and 92 scholarly papers. Among the honors she received are a Fulbright Hayes Research Scholarship to Sweden (1990-1991), Membership on the Council for International Exchange of Scholars, Area Committee for Scandinavia (1993-1995), and a Meritorious professorship, Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb, Croatia (2009). She is an invited reviewer for a large number of scientific journals. She currently serves as Guest Associate Editor for the journal Frontiers in Endocrinology and is a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Nutrients.
