Yogeswaran Lokanathan obtained his bachelor's degree in applied science (Hons.) in biotechnology from the Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2005 and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, in 2011. He is an associate professor and research fellow at the Center for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (CTERM), Faculty of Medicine, National University of Malaysia (UKM). He is currently focused on developing in vitro models of the respiratory epithelium, as well as the regeneration of the respiratory epithelium and peripheral nerves, by utilizing various biomaterials for tissue-engineering applications. In addition, he is studying the use of the secretome from nasal fibroblasts for therapeutic use in airway wound healing. Furthermore, he is conducting a study of the safety and efficacy of mesenchymal stem cells and exosomes in alleviating metabolic syndrome in an animal model.
Min Hwei Ng received her bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from the Universiti Putra Malaysia, a master’s degree from the Universiti Malaya, and a Ph.D. from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She is currently a research fellow and the head of the Tissue Engineering Center at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre. Her current research focus includes 3D scaffold rapid prototyping, engineering vascularized tissues, and cell- and exosome-based therapies.
