Dr. Elisavet Stavropoulou was affiliated with the Department
of Internal Medicine and Department of Infectious Diseases, CHUV (Centre
Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois) in Rue du Bugnon, Lausanne, Switzerland. She
is the Editorial Board Member of the journal JoR and the Reviewer Board Member of the
journal Antibiotics in MDPI. Her research interests mainly focus on infectious
diseases, microbial ecology, health, disease, microbiota, hygiene, antibiotics,
probiotics, diet, and intestine. Her scientific output includes 54 publications
in various journals with an h-index of 20(Scopus, February 2024).Actually, she is working for the Greek National Health Organization(EODY) .
Prof. Dr. Christina Tsigalou has been a Medical
Microbiologist–Biopathologist and Assistant Professor in Medical–Molecular
Microbiology at the Laboratory of Hygiene and Environmental Protection of Democritus University of Thrace, Alexandroupolis.She received her MD and Ph.D. from the same University.
Her special interest is in autoimmunity, diagnostic immunology and clinical
chemistry. She is also a professor in the Nursing Department at the High
Technical Education Institute of East Macedonia and Thrace, and she teaches in
post-graduate courses as well. She performs reviews for national and
international scientific journals, publishes articles in peer-reviewed journals
and is a member of Greek and international scientific societies.
Prof. Dr. Chrysoula (Chrysa) Voidarou is affiliated with the Department of Agriculture, School of Agriculture, University of Ioannina in Arta, Greece. She is the Guest Editor of the Special Issues “Food Microbiology: Contemporary Issues of Food Safety”, "Microbial Microbial and Microbial Resistance", 'Gut Microbiome and Functional Foods" and “Antibiotics: Fighting Disease and Promoting Health by Embracing the Two Sides of the Same Coin” in MDPI. Her research interests mainly focus on microbiology, microbial ecology, public health, food-borne diseases, food technology, food safety, nutrients, fermented foods, lactic acid bacteria, study of dairy products, probiotics, prebiotics, bio-functional foods, proteomic analysis of milk and dairy products, milk and cheese microbiota exploration in relation to the traceability and authenticity of dairy products by microbial biomarkers, investigation of microbial resistance, horizontal spread of resistance through integrons, pathogenic action of isolated strains in experimental animals, the use of ultra-high throughput technologies such as Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and proteomic analysis. Her scientific output includes 89 publications in various journals with an h-index of 20 (Scopus, February 2024).
Prof. Dr. Eugenia Bezirtzoglou is a
Microbiologist–Biochemist (France) with a Degree in Medicine and three Masters
in Biochemistry, Hematology (Human Biology), Parasitology (Human Biology), DEA
in Microbiology and a PhD in Microbiology with emphasis on Microbial Ecology.
From 1988 to 2003, she was elected Associate Professor at the Medical School of
Ioannina University in Greece. Since
2003, she has been serving as a Professor in the Faculty of Agricultural
Development, Department of Food Science and Technology, where she directs the
Laboratories of (a) Microbiology, Biotechnology and Hygiene, (b) Food Processing
and (c) Chemistry and Biochemistry. Her research objectives are the
microbiological quality of foods, the microbial ecology of the normal
microbiota, the antimicrobial activity of natural and synthetic compounds, the
quality of aquatic ecosystems, etc. Professor Bezirtzoglou has participated in
160 research publications in peer-reviewed journals, 180 international
conferences and over 60 research projects as a researcher. Also, as a scientific
principal investigator, she has coordinated 17 research projects funded by
national or European funds in the last 14 years in the Faculty of Agricultural
Development, Department of Food Science and Technology.
