Author Biographies

Marcin Piechocki is a medical doctor working at the Department of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery of St. John Paul II Hospital in Krakow. He graduated with the award of distinction from Jagiellonian University Medical College in 2023. He received the Award of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for the best publication, as well as a scholarship from the Minister of Education and Science for significant scientific achievements for the academic year 2021/2022. He is an outstanding young scientist involved in vascular research. His area of interest includes endovascular procedures and vascular surgery. He is engaged in the projects on acute lower limb ischemia and interventions on carotid artery disease.
Tadeusz Przewłocki is a full professor at the Department of Cardiac and Vascular Diseases at Jagiellonian University Medical College. He is the pioneer of invasive cardiology in Poland. He highly contributed to the development of the project for the treatment of patients with acute coronary syndrome and the development of centers' net for coronary interventions. He is a member of the Polish Cardiac Society, the European Society of Cardiology, among others. He has repeatedly performed demonstration treatments at courses, trainings, symposia, and international and national congresses, and he also has been invited as an expert and lecturer to national and international congresses and meetings.
Piotr Pieniążek is a well-known and respected interventional cardiologist with many years of scientific experience. He is a professor at the Department of Heart and Vascular Diseases of the Jagiellonian University Medical College. He graduated from the Medical Academy in Krakow and devoted his heart to cardiology, obtaining further degrees of specialization and defending his doctorate. He is pioneer for tailored endovascular carotid artery disease treatment with neuroprotection systems. He is the author of over 100 articles in specialized, scientific domestic and foreign press, as well as the author and co-author of medical books.
Mariusz Trystuła is the head of the Department of Vascular Surgery Department at John Paul II Hospital. From 2009 to 2014, he was the head of the Department of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the St. John Paul II Hospital. His skills and expertise include vascular diseases, vascular surgery, and endovascular surgery. He is engaged in stem cell therapy and complex procedures for extra cardiac arterial disease.
Jakub Podolec graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Jagiellonian University College of Medicine, Kraków, obtaining his Doctor of Medicine in 2004. In 2012, he received a Ph.D. degree from the Jagiellonian University College of Medicine. In 2019, based on his research experience, he received the associate professor title. His main topics of scientific research include interventional cardiology, prevention of cardiovascular diseases, and examination of inflammatory biomarkers.
Anna Kabłak-Ziembicka has been a professor at Jagiellonian University Medical College since 2013. From 2010 to 2013, she was an associate professor at Jagiellonian University Medical College. She is a member of the European Society of Cardiology. Her research keywords include cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, and renovascular disease. She works at a non-invasive laboratory performing echocardiographic and vascular ultrasonography studies. Her major research fields cover arterial stiffness, atherosclerotic plaques assessment, carotid intima-media thickness, and cardiovascular microRNAs.
