Author Biographies

Prof. William H. Gmeiner is a professor of cancer biology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He obtained his BA from the University of Chicago in 1982 and his PhD from the University of Utah in 1989. He went on to become an Alberta Heritage Medical Research Fellow prior to becoming an assistant and then associate professor with tenure at the Eppley/UNMC Cancer Institute and a visiting professor at the University of California at San Francisco. He has been working at Wake Forest University School of Medicine since 2000 as a tenured professor. In 2007, he completed the executive MBA program at WFU. He founded Deep Creek Pharma, LLC in 2019 to commercially develop new therapeutics for cancer treatment that he had designed and developed. His research focus is on the nucleic acid structure and function, cell signaling, molecular biology, and in vivo evaluation of anti-cancer therapeutics. He is also a member of the American Chemical Society and the American Association of Cancer Research.
