Uwe Reisgen studied Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University and achieved the final qualification of Dipl. Ing. in 1990. He subsequently worked as a scientific employee at the Welding and Joining Institute at RWTH Aachen where he obtained his Dr. Ing. doctor’s degree in 1995. From 1995 to 2000, he was employed as a chief engineer at the Welding and Joining Institute at RWTH Aachen University and since 2000, he has been the Head of the Joining and Testing Technology Department at the Jülich Research Centre. In 2007, he was appointed as a university professor at the Welding and Joining Institute at RWTH Aachen University and as the director of the institute with the same name. He has 346 publications with 2552 citations and an h-index of 24 (Scopus, 22 November 2023).
Simon Olschok studied Mechanical Engineering, specializing in production technology at RWTH Aachen University, Germany from 1996 to 2002. From 2002 to 2007, he worked as a research assistant at the Welding and Joining Institute (ISF) in the field of laser beam welding. Since then, he has been working as a senior engineer at ISF in the field of beam processes. In 2008, he completed his doctorate on the topic of laser-MSG hybrid welding of steel in the thick sheet area. He has 96 publications with 532 citations (ResearchGate, 22 November 2023).
