Dimitrios Michelogiannakis currently serves as an Associate Professor and Program Director at the Eastman Institute’s Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and maintains a faculty practice limited to Orthodontics. He received his dental degree (DDS) from the School of Dentistry, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in 2012. During his military service, he worked as a soldier–dentist in the Greek Army for one year. Afterward, He completed a 3-year specialty training program in Orthodontics at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of Rochester, and received a Master of Science degree in Dental Science (M.S.) in 2017. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a member of several dental organizations including the American Association of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, and the American Dental Education Association. His research is focused on the influence of local and systemic factors on orthodontic tooth movement, translational research, and clinical studies regarding orthodontic treatment mechanics, patient expectations, and treatment outcomes.
P. Emile Rossouw has been associated with academic and clinical orthodontics in various capacities over the last 32 years. He has served as a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa; the Discipline of Orthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada; the Department of Orthodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry, Dallas, Texas, USA; and Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthodontics, University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA. He is presently a Professor and Chairman of the Division of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at the University of Rochester Eastman Institute for Oral Health in Rochester, NY. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, has served as Director of the Burlington Growth Center at the University of Toronto, and is American Board Certified. He has contributed more than 130 publications to the dental literature, which include scientific articles, chapters in books, and abstracts. He has lectured nationally and internationally. He is a member of many associations and societies, amongst them the well-respected Tweed Foundation, where he has served as a clinical instructor. He serves on the reviewing panels for various orthodontic and general dentistry journals. He maintains a part-time clinical practice.
Dr. Fawad Javed completed his doctoral education and postdoctoral training at the Department of Dental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. Presently, He is an Assistant Professor on the academic track at the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of Rochester, NY, USA. His research interests include local and systemic factors affecting orthodontic tooth movement, the connection between oral inflammatory disorders and systemic conditions particularly diabetes mellitus, the impact of smoking and the use of smokeless tobacco on oral health, implant dentistry, guided bone regeneration, and photobiomodulation research. He has published over 250 studies in peer-reviewed and indexed medical and dental journals and has written books published by renowned publishers. He is serving on the Editorial Board and peer-review panels of several ISI-indexed medical and dental journals. He is named in the world’s top 2% of the most highly cited Scientists list published by Stanford University, USA.
