Konstantinos Tsamis is a Neurologist and Assistant Professor of Physiology in the School of Medicine, University of Ioannina. He studied medicine at the University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and defended his doctoral thesis in 2011. He then served as a neurologist in several Greek hospitals. In May 2021, he joined the University of Ioannina. His research interests are mainly focused on the structure and function of neuronal circuits, mechanisms underlying synapses' formation, their disruption in neurological disorders, and the effect of different therapeutic agents. He has published numerous scientific papers in reputable scientific journals. His teaching activities include physiology and neurology in pre-graduate medical students and neuroscience in master students. He is also enthusiastically engaged in science outreach events with the team Exploring the Brain.
Yannis V. Simos is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences, University of Ioannina. He obtained an MSc from the University of Glasgow (2003) and a Ph.D. from the University of Ioannina (2010). Since 2010, he has been a Researcher, Adjunct Lecturer in "Nutrition and Exercise Physiology", and Senior Research Associate at the University of Ioannina, etc. His research interests focus on diabetes, flavonoids, oxidative stress, and antioxidants.
Ilias P Nikas is an Assistant Professor of Pathology at the Medical School, University of Cyprus, 2029 Nicosia, Cyprus. Nikas studied Medicine at the School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and performed his doctoral research at the Institute of Pathology, Technical University of Munich, Germany. He completed his clinical training (residency) in Cytopathology in Greece, in addition to a visiting fellowship in Molecular Pathology at the Department of Pathology, Seoul National University Hospital, Korea. Nikas is currently involved in the teaching of Histology and Pathology. His research interests focus on the molecular pathology of solid neoplasms in addition to Medical Education. His publications, as first or last author, can be found in high-impact factor journals, such as the Anatomical Sciences Education, Cancer Letters, Cancers, Cells, Journal of Personalized Medicine, etc.
Stefanos Bellos is Course Director and Lecturer at Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences, University of Ioannina, Ioannina, Greece. He received his Bachelor's degree and Ph.D. from University of Ioannina in 2004 and 2015, respectively. His research keywords include adolescent development, psychopathology of mental illness, e-learning for epidemiology, and statistics epidemiology psychiatry.
Prof. Spyridon Konitsiotis is a Professor of Neurology at the University of Ioannina, Ioannina, Greece. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Ioannina Medical School in 1987, and the Ph.D. degree from the National Institutes of Health in 1990. His research interests include movement disorders, Parkinson’s disease, neuropharmacology, and drug-induced movement disorders. In addition, he is a member of the International Brain Research Organisation, the European Neuroscience Association, the European Brain and Behavior Society and the European Behavioral Pharmacology Society.
Charalampos Labrakakis (Ph.D.) is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the University of Ioannina, Department of Biological Applications and Technologies. His lab investigates the neurobiological mechanisms involved in the sensation of pain. We are focusing on identifying neuronal circuits, and cellular and molecular aspects in the chronification of pain. His skills and expertise include neuroscience,
neurobiology and brain physiology, physiology, electrophysiology, patch clamp, neurons, patch-clamp electrophysiology, synaptic transmission, and synapses.
Prof. Patra Vezyraki is a Professor of Physiology at the Laboratory of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ioannina, Ioannina, Greece. Prof. Vezyraki graduated from the University of Patras, Greece, and in 1991, Prof. Vezyraki received a Ph.D. degree in Physiology from Medical School, University of Ioannina, Greece. Prof. Vezyraki’s main research focuses on the clinical evaluation of Parkinson’s disease.
Prof. Dimitrios Peschos is a Professor of Physiology at the Laboratory of Physiology, Medical Department, School of Health Sciences at the University of Ioannina, Greece. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Medical Department, School of Health Sciences at the University of Ioannina. His research is mainly focused on programs that control cell growth in malignant cell lines and the histopathology control of tumors developed in animals and cell lines in malignant cells. In addition, he is a Board Member of the Greek Anticancer Society, and he has also been a chairperson in roundtables and a member of Organisational Committees in Greek and International Congresses And Seminars.
