Venkateswarlu Kanamarlapudi is a Professor of Molecular Cell Biology and Pharmacology at Swansea University Medical School. He obtained a BSc in Biology and Chemistry from Acharya Nagarjuna University, an MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Hyderabad, an MTech in Biotechnology from IIT Kharagpur and a PhD from the University of Sheffield (researched on antifungal drugs mode of action and fungal resistance under Prof. Steve Kelly’s supervision). Before Joining Swansea, he worked as a research scientist at AstraZeneca (India) on anti-microbial drugs, a post-doctoral researcher in the School of Biochemistry at the University of Bristol on the regulation of ARF cell signalling by inositol lipids, and BBSRC David Phillips Research Fellow and Lecturer in School of Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Bristol on ARF and inositol lipid signalling in health and disease. His main research interests lie in understanding GPCR-, inositol lipids- and small GTPases-mediated cell signalling in health and disease. Based on his research accomplishments, he has been elected as a fellow of several learned societies (FRSB, FRSC, FLSW, FABAP, FAPAS, FNABS) and received a DSc (Doctor of Science) from Swansea University.
