Grigorios Tsigkas received his M.D. (1997) and Ph.D. (2016)
from the University of Patras, Greece. He is an experienced Interventional
Cardiologist and currently works as an Assistant Professor of Cardiology at the
School of Medicine, University of Patras. He is also the president of the
Scientific Association of Interventional Cardiology of the Hellenic College of
Cardiology. His research interests include coronary artery disease, platelets,
anticoagulation therapy, acute coronary syndromes, radial access for coronary
interventions—snuffbox access, and primary prevention.
Anastasios Apostolos earned his M.D. from the School of
Medicine, University of Patras in 2020, and his M.Sc. in Interventional
Cardiology from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is a PhD
candidate and Assistant Researcher in the First Department of Cardiology of
National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Hippokration General
Hospital. His main research interests are associated with coronary artery
disease, vascular access for coronary interventions, antithrombotic treatment,
cardioncology, and PFO-related strokes.
Dr. Angeliki Papageorgiou is a Cardiologist at the Department
of Cardiology, General University Hospital of Patras, Greece. She has worked
at the General University Hospital of Patras since January 2023. She is a member
of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the Association for Acute
Cardiovascular Care (ACVC), and the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA). Her M.Sc. is in Heart Failure from University of Thessaly, Faculty of Medicine. She is a PhD
candidate. Her main research interests are associated with cardiomyopathies, heart failure, arrhythmias, and cardiac devices.
Michail I. Papafaklis is an Interventional Cardiologist and currently works as an Assistant Professor of Cardiology at the Medical School, University of Patras, Greece. He completed his MD studies at the University of Ioannina, Greece, where he was also awarded with a distinction in his Ph.D. degree. He has been trained in
interventional cardiology at Barts Heart Centre, St Bartholomew’s Hospital in
London, UK, and is certified in interventional cardiology by the European
Association of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (EAPCI). He has worked as a
Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard
Medical School, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA, and he has
also been a visiting scientist in the Interventional Department of the
Thoraxcenter, Erasmus MC in the Netherlands. Dr. Papafaklis was the winner of the
distinguished Young Investigator Award by the European Society of Cardiology in
2011, and he has received awards from the Academy of Athens and the Hellenic
Cardiological Society. His research interests focus on hemodynamics, coronary physiology, invasive
and non-invasive three-dimensional imaging of coronary arteries, coronary stents, biomedical
engineering in the cardiovascular system, survival studies following
percutaneous coronary interventions, and the pathophysiology and molecular
mechanisms of atherosclerosis.
Georgios Leventopoulos received his M.D. from the University
of Patras, Greece. He has been working as a Fellow at Royal Brompton Hospital
(London) and the University Hospital of Southampton with training in
electrophysiology. He has been awarded the step2 EHRA accreditation both in
electrophysiology and implantable devices. He has been a Consultant in
electrophysiology at the University Hospital of Patras, Greece, since 2017. His
research interests include atrial fibrillation, arrhythmias in congenital heart
disease, devices programming, and channelopathies.
Grigoris V. Karamasis is an Interventional Cardiology
Consultant working at the Second Cardiology Department of Athens Medical School in
Attikon University Hospital, Athens, Greece. He received his M.D. from the
Medical School, National, and Kapodistrian University of Athens and completed
his cardiology training and sub-specialization in interventional cardiology in
the UK. In 2017, he started working as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist
at Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, Basildon, UK, with a parallel academic
affiliation with Anglia Ruskin University, UK. His research interests and
expertise focus on coronary physiology, intravascular Imaging,
cardio-protection in STEMI, and complex PCI outcomes optimization.
Dr. Periklis Davlouros is an Associate Professor at the Department of Cardiology, University Hospital of Patras, Patras, Greece. His research interests include cardiology, atherosclerosis, interventional cardiology, myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, the cardiovascular system, HRV, vascular medicine, and acute coronary syndrome. He is the author of more than 240 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
