Dr. Daniela De Canditiis is a researcher at the Istituto per le Applicazioni del Calcolo “M. Picone”. She received her Degree in Mathematics and PhD in Applied Mathematics at the University of Naples “Federico II” in 1995 and 2001, respectively. Since 1996 she has been working for the CNR, where she has always been involved in inferential statistics. Her research activity concerns the study of methodologies for solving parametric and nonparametric inference problems: their numerical aspect and their theoretical properties. While early in her career she dealt mainly with the analysis of functional data (signal processing), with the advent of the new machine learning paradigm her interests shifted to the analysis of more complex, high-dimensional data with hidden structures. The wide applicability of the techniques studied, allowed her to work in applied projects in fields as diverse as atmospheric physics, genetics, medicine, neuroscience, environment, etc.
