Prof. Dr. Andrzej Więcek is Prof. of Internal Medicine and Nephrology and Head of Department of Nephrology, Medical University of Silesia, Katowice. He has published lots of papers in various journals. Since 2000, he has served as the Head of Dept. of Nephrology, Endocrinology, and Metabolic diseases, past president of the Polish Society of Nephrology, president of the Polish Society of Hypertension, on the editorial boards of NDT, AJKD, and Clinical Nephrology, as a council member of ERA/EDTA, Treasurer-elect and coordinator of educational courses, Central and Eastern Europe, board of KDIGO, treasurer-elect of ERA/EDTA, and as a fellow of the Royal College Physicians Edinburgh, and so on. His areas of interest are primary and secondary hypertension, hormonal disturbances in uremia, endocrine function of the kidney, endocrine function of adipose tissue, and anemia management in uremia.
