Pedro Marques is a Consultant Endocrinologist at Hospital CUF Descobertas, Lisbon, and he is also affiliated with the Medical Faculty of Católica University in Lisbon, Portugal. Pedro obtained his medical degree at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto in 2009, after which he completed his training in Endocrinology at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology in Lisbon. Then, Pedro Marques undertook his PhD degree at Prof. Márta Korbonits’ lab at Queen Mary University of London, which was completed in May 2020; in the meantime, he kept his clinical practice as a clinical fellow at Barts Hospital in London. Later, he did a 3-month fellowship at the Centre for Endocrine Tumors at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) with Prof. Alberto Pereira, following which he worked as an Endocrinologist at the North Lisbon University Hospital Centre for 2 years. His main research interests concern pituitary tumors, and in particular the microenvironment of pituitary tumors, familial pituitary tumors, mainly those associated with AIP mutations, and also the fields of pseudoacromegaly and diagnostic and management challenges in acromegaly.
Amets Sagarribay is a Doctor in the Pituitary Tumor Unit, Neurosurgery Department, Hospital CUF Descobertas. He began the Neurosurgery Service at the Centro Hospital Universitário de Lisboa Central (Vinavascular Neurosurgery Unit and Skull Base) and the Pediatric Neurosurgery Unit of Hospital Dona Estefânia in 2009. He previously worked as a Hospital Assistant at CHULC (2009-2018). He received the degree of Fellow of the European Board of Neurological Surgery (FEBNS) from the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) in 2019.
Francisco Tortosa is a Doctor in the Pituitary Tumor Unit, Pathology Department, Hospital CUF Descobertas. He obtained a Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Granada (1997), a Master's degree in Medicine from University Rey Juan Carlos of Madrid (2000), a Master's degree in Dietetics and Human Nutrition from University of Cádiz (2005), a Postgraduate degree in Dermatopathology from University of Alcalá de Henares of Madrid (2013), a Doctorate in Medicine (PhD degree) with cum laude from the Faculty of Medicine of Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona (2018), and a Degree of Graduate Hospital Assistant (Special Medical Career Consultant) in Pathological Anatomy (2020). He studied as a Postgraduate in Cell Growth and Cancer at UNED (2014), a Postgraduate in Biomedical Research and Law at UNED (2016), and a Postgraduate in Breast Pathology at Euroinnova Business School (2019). In addition, he got the title of University Specialist in Psychopathology and Health at UNED in 2002.
Lia Neto received a degree in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL) in 2003, a Master’s degree in Neurosciences—Specialization in Neuroanatomy and Neuroimaging, from FMUL, in 2007, PhD in Medicine—Specialization in Anatomy, from FMUL, in 2015. She undertook the Complementary Neuroradiology Internship at the Neurological Imaging Service of Hospital de Santa Maria—Centro Hospitalar Lisboa Norte (HSM—CHLN) from 2005 to 2010. She served as a Visiting Fellow at the Interventional Neuroradiology and Radiological Sciences Service at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, USA in 2010, and as a Specialist in Neuroradiology in 2011. She got a European Certificate of Fellowship in Neuroradiology. Now she serves as a Hospital Assistant in Neuroradiology at HSM—CHLN. She is a member of the Endovascular Intervention Group—Diagnostic and Therapeutic Angiography, at HSM—CHLN and the Board of Directors of the College of Neuroradiology Specialty. She is a neuroradiologist at the Portuguese Society of Magnetic Resonance and Portuguese Red Cross Hospital and a guest assistant to the Neuroanatomy Discipline at FMUL. She frequently participated in courses, training actions, congresses, and national and international scientific meetings in the areas of anatomy and neuroimaging.
Joana Tavares Ferreira graduated in Medicine from Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Coimbra in 2006 and has been a specialist in Ophthalmology since 2012, having completed her Ophthalmology Residence at Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Lisboa Central. She completed her PhD in Medicine - Specialty in Ophthalmology in 2017 at NOVA Medical School, with distinction and praise. She is currently a consultant at Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Lisboa Norte (CHULN), Hospital CUF Descobertas (HCD), and Hospital CUF Cascais (HCC). Her areas of expertise are neuro-ophthalmology and ocular diabetes. She is also a member of the Instituto de Saúde Ambiental (ISAMB) of the Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade de Lisboa. She has published more than 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has been awarded nationally and internationally 12 times in different areas of ophthalmology research. She has participated in several international multicentre clinical trials, and she is an examiner for the European Board of Ophthalmology exam.
João Subtil is the Orbit Unit Coordinator at CUF Descobertas Hospital. He received a Degree in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon in 1996 and undertook the Otorhinolaryngology Specialty Internship in 2006. He became a fellow of the European Academy of Otolaryngology in 2013. He got a
Doctorate in Medicine-Otorhinolaryngology at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Universidade Nova-Nova Medical School in 2019. He served as a specialist in the ENT Service at Hospital de Pulido Valente—Centro Hospitalar Lisboa Norte from 2006 to 2012. He has been a specialist in the Otorhinolaryngology Service at CUF Descupadas Hospital since 2006. He provided ENT Services at Pulido Valente Hospital from 2008 to 2012. He is a Fellow (recognized specialist) by the Board of Otorhinolaryngology and Cervico-Facial Surgery of the European Union of Medical Specialists and the European Academy of Otorhinolaryngology and Cervico-Facial Surgery since 2013. He is also a member of the Portuguese Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Cervico-Facial Surgery and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He is editor of the Journal of the Portuguese Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery.
Ana Palha has been an Endocrinology and Nutrition Specialist Doctor at Curry Cabral Hospital since 2016. She received a degree in Medicine with an Integrated Master at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 2008. She undertook a General Internship at Centro Hospitalar do
Barlavento Algarvio in 2009, Complementary Internship in Imaging at Hospital Espírito Santo from 2000 to 2011, Complementary Internship in Endocrinology and Nutrition at Curry Cabral Hospital from 2011 to 2016. She is a member of many societies, such as the Order of Doctors, the Portuguese Society of Endocrinology and Diabetes and Metabolism, the Pituitary Tumor Study Group, and the Neuroendocrine Tumor Study Group. She used to be a member of the scientific and organizing committee of the V/VI Endocrinology and Diabetes Conference at Curry Cabral Hospital in 2013
and 2015, respectively.
Inês Sapinho is currently the coordinator of the Endocrinology Unit at CUF Descupadas Hospital and a coordinator of the Endocrinology Unit at Fernando da Fonseca Hospital. She graduated in Medicine
from the Faculty of Medical Sciences at UNL in 1997. She became a specialist in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism in 2006. She received a postgraduate degree from the Order of Doctors in Management of Health Units at the Catholic University in 2008. She is part of the Thyroid Study Group (GET) of the Portuguese Society of Diabetes and Metabolism. At present, she is actively collaborating with the groups of Thyroid, Adrenal gland, and Pregnancy study of the Portuguese Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism.
