Prof. Michael S. Hofman is a nuclear medicine physician who leads the Prostate Cancer Theranostics and Imaging Centre of Excellence (ProsTIC) at Melbourne's Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne, Australia. His groundbreaking research in PSMA PET and PSMA radioligand therapy has revolutionized prostate cancer imaging and treatment, resulting in FDA approval, Australian MBS funding, and a $2.1 billion investment by Novartis. He has been elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences (AAHMS) for his outstanding contribution to cancer research. His passion for novel radiopharmaceuticals drives him to collaborate globally on Phase I, II, and III clinical trials, addressing unmet needs in oncology.
Prof. Nathan Lawrentschuk is a urologist and urologic oncologist with appointments as clinical and a Research Professor at the Department of Surgery, University of Melbourne. He is also a Director of Urology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He is the founding Director of the EJ Whitten Prostate Cancer Research Centre at Epworth Healthcare. He completed a PhD in Kidney Cancer, as well as completing his training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2008. He has a special interest in cancer, high-risk surgery of the prostate, kidney, bladder, and testes, as well as being comfortable with active surveillance of many cancers where appropriate.
Dr. Marlon Perera currently works as a urologic oncologist at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Center and Austin Health. He is actively involved in clinical research and completed a PhD (urology) through the University of Melbourne. He is accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and the Urologic Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ). He has a special interest in Urologic Oncology and completed two years of additional training in robotic surgery at the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York. During his tenure at MSKCC, he was awarded the 'Clinical Research Award', awarded for the most outstanding research contribution at MSKCC in 2022/2023. His research interests include: benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), complex stone surgery, focal therapy for prostate cancer, laparoscopic surgery, laser and lithotripsy, and laser surgery for BPH including greenlight and HOLEP, robotic urology, and stone disease. Prof. Declan G. Murphy is a consultant urologist, a Director of Genitourinary (GU) Oncology, and a Director of Robotic Surgery at the Department of Surgery, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne, Australia. He was promoted to full Professor at the Department of Surgery, University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia in 2019. He has previously been a consultant urologist at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London, UK. He specializes full-time in GU oncology, prostate cancer in particular. He is a member of the invitation-only Advanced Prostate Cancer Consensus Conference. He is a founding director of Cancer Specialists, a specialist multidisciplinary cancer practice comprising top specialists from Peter Mac.
Dr. Renu Eapen currently works as a consultant urologist in the Genitourinary Oncology Service at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. She also has appointments at the Austin Hospital and Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre. She completed her urology training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2014, then undertook research in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. She went on to complete subspecialty fellowship training in urodynamics, incontinence voiding dysfunction, and reconstruction at the University of Toronto, ON, Canada. She is a member of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ), the American Urological Association (AUA), the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO), and the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine, and Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU). The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) in the United States has awarded her with its prestigious Michael and Lori Milken PCF Young Investigator Award in 2022. She has a special interest in the surgical and non-surgical management of prostate cancer, as well as kidney and bladder cancers. Additionally, she has an interest in the treatment of voiding dysfunction in men and women.
