Prof. Dr. Miguel A Ortega works in the Department of Medicine and Medical Specialities, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Alcalá. He previously worked at the Spanish National Research Council and Cajal Institute. He participates in research in psychiatry and mental health as well as tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. His group now mainly focuses on the development and study of experimental models of tissue repair and regeneration; the development, study, and use of biomaterials as tissue substitutes; and the study of the aging process and tissue degeneration and its clinical implications.

Prof. Dr. Luis G. Guijarro is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Alcalá. He participates in two research groups, Healthcare Informatics Research (MISKC) and Development and Application of Healthcare. The former group's research mainly focuses on theoretical and applied bases of nursing care based on the stages of the life cycle and the person's environment; issues of life and death: resuscitation and organ donation; inflammatory and oncogenic repercussions of metabolic syndrome; and care for forgotten diseases. The latter group's research is interested in analysis and solution strategies for demands and care services; the formalization, representation, and normalization of care languages; the conceptualization of care; the formalization of decision-making aid tools; and knowledge technologies, artificial intelligence, gamification, and robotics applied to the field of care.

Dr. Miguel Angel Alvarez-Mon specialized in Psychiatry at the University of Navarra Clinic (2015–2019). In 2019, he defended his doctoral thesis at the University of Alcala. Currently, he is a practicing psychiatrist at the Infanta Leonor Hospital (Madrid). Additionally, he is involved in carrying out research and teaching at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alcala. Prof. Dr. Miguel Angel Alvarez-Mon has participated in research about the potential use of social media in better understanding psychiatric diseases and the role immunology plays in the etiology of depression. In 2020, he was granted the ‘Best Ph.D. Dissertation in psychiatry in Spain’ award.
