Dr. Maria Paola Bonasoni graduated with a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna (Italy). She is a Medical Doctor and Specialist in Pathology at the University of Bologna (Italy). She works at the Operative Unit of Pathology, St. Maria Nuova Hospital, Reggio Emilia, Italy. Her research interests include Fetal and Paediatric Pathology, Congenital Abnormalities, and Autopsy. She is the author of more than 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Jennifer Paola Pascali received her Ph.D. in Forensic Science from the Department of Public Health and Community Health, University of Verona, Italy, in 2006. Then she became a post-doc fellow in Forensic
Science at the same university from 2006–2012. She was a Researcher in Forensic Science at the Department of Health Sciences, University of Florence. Currently, she is an Associate Professor at the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences, University of Bologna, Italy. She is a member of The International Association of Forensic Toxicologists (TIAFT) and The Society of Hair Testing (SoHT).
Carla Bini is a Senior assistant professor (fixed-term) at the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences, University of Bologna. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Bologna in 1995, finished her postgraduate internship at the Molecular Biology Laboratory of the Department of Experimental Pathology, University of Bologna from 1995 to 1996, was Licensed to practice as a biologist in 1996, received her Ph.D. in Medical–Forensic Sciences, University of Bologna in 2000, and finished a Postdoctoral fellowship on “Genetic determination of microchimerism in patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation” at the Department of Medicine and Public Health, Sect. of Forensic Medicine, Laboratory of Forensic Genetics, University of Bologna in 2000–2002. She has been a Permanent laboratory technician (category C2) in technical, technical–scientific, and data processing areas at the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences, University of Bologna since 2005. She obtained a national scientific qualification for the functions of Professor of II fascia in the scientific disciplinary sector MED/43 Legal Medicine in 2012 and 2013. She has been responsible for the quality management system of the Forensic Genetics Laboratory, DIMEC since 2012.
Guido Pelletti is a Senior Assistant Professor (fixed-term) at the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences, Unit of Legal Medicine, University of Bologna. He received his Degree in Medicine from the University of Bologna in 2012, his Postgraduate degree in Forensic Medicine at the University of Padua in 2017, and his Ph.D. in General Medical Sciences and Service Sciences at the University of Bologna in 2021. He conducts his research in the field of bio-medico-legal sciences, and, in particular, in the field of
forensic toxicology and forensic pathology. His research interests are directed at the study of fatal and non-fatal acute intoxications, sudden cardiac death, deaths from adverse drug reactions, the phenomenon of driving under the influence of narcotic and psychotropic substances, and the study of the post-mortem interval through innovative techniques.
Paolo Fais received his M.D. from the University of Padua in 2007 and his Ph.D. in Forensic Medicine and Science from the University of Verona in 2016. He is a Forensic Pathologist and now works as an Associate Professor in Legal Medicine at the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences, University of Bologna, Italy. His expertise is in the fields of Forensic Pathology, Forensic Toxicology, Forensic Radiology, Clinical Forensic Medicine, Malpractice, and Medical Liability.
