Peter Spazzapan (MD), a specialist in neurosurgery and pediatric neurosurgery, is a full-time employee of the Clinical Department of Neurosurgery at UKC Ljubljana. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore-Policlinico Agostino Gemelli in Rome in 2008 and then went on to specialize in neurosurgery at the University Clinical Centre in Ljubljana (coordinator of the specialization, Prof. Vinko Dolenc, MD, PhD). He received further training in pediatric neurosurgery in Paris at the Department of Paediatric Neurosurgery at the Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades. He is a regular member of ESPN (the European Society of Paediatric Neurosurgery). The main areas of work are the operative treatment of congenital craniofacial and spinal malformations (craniosynostoses, dysraphisms) and hydrocephalus. He regularly performs SDR (selective dorsal rhizotomy) for the treatment of spasticity. In the adult population, he treats degenerative spinal diseases and tumor pathology of the spine and brain. He is also involved in research and teaching activities at the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana.
Dr. Tomaz Velnar is a neurosurgeon and assistant professor at the Department of Neurosurgery, University Medical Centre Ljubljana, Slovenia. Dr. Tomaz Velnar earned a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, in 2013. Dr. Tomaz Velnar is involved in tumour and vascular neurosurgery, as well as paediatric pathology, especially spina bifida operations, neuroendoscopy, and craniosynostoses. Dr. Tomaz Velnar is also active in research, covering both preclinical and clinical fields.
