Konstantinos P. Bartziokas is a Respiratory Physician from Greece. He
received his medical degree in 2004 and trained in Pulmonology at the
Respiratory Medicine Department of the University of Thessaly and at the
Respiratory Medicine Department of Sismanoglio Hospital (Amalia Fleming
wing). He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Thessaly School of
Medicine in 2012. The title of his Ph.D. thesis is "The role of statins
in the outcome of exacerbations of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary
Disease". He received the title of Respiratory Physician in Athens in
April 2013. During his studies he has received distinctions, research
grants and awards from the European Respiratory Society as well as from
the Hellenic Thoracic Society. He has also participated in the
translation and editing of various medical textbooks, as well as a
speaker in a series of Greek and European conferences. He has >30
publications in peer-reviewed journals in PubMed, and he is a reviewer
in >40 peer-reviewed journals. He completed his Postdoctoral (post
Ph.D.) Research in 2022 in the Respiratory Medicine Department of the
University of Ioannina entitled "Microalbuminuria on admission for acute
exacerbation of COPD as a predictor of all-cause mortality and future
exacerbations". His research interests include obstructive diseases of
the human airways and mainly Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. He
is currently a Pulmonologist in Private Sector, Trikala, Greece.
Prof. Dr. Andriana I Papaioannou is currently an Assistant Professor at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens at 1st University Department of Respiratory Medicine, "Sotiria" Hospital, Athens, Greece.
She was a Resident Physician in Respiratory Medicine at Sismanogleio General
Hospital in 2008–2013, and an ERS Research Fellow at National Heart and Lung
Institute, Imperial College London in 2010–2012. She has published 60 papers in
various journals. Her research interests include Asthma, Biologics, Biomarkers,
COPD, and Airway inflammation.
Prof. Dr. Evanthia Gouveri is an Assistant Professor at the Diabetes Centre, 2nd Department of Internal Medicine, Medical School, Democritus University of Thrace. She worked at 4th Department
of Internal Medicine and Unit of Vascular Medicine, Evangelismos State General Hospital.
Her research interests include diabetes mellitus, diabetic neuropathy, etc.
Dr. Paschalis Steiropoulos is a Professor of Pulmonology at the Medical School of Democritus University of Thrace and the Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine and Head of the Sleep Unit at the University General Hospital of Alexandroupolis, Greece. He received his Medical Degree and his Ph.D. from the Medical School of Democritus University of Thrace and he was trained in Pulmonology at the University General Hospital of Alexandroupolis and the General Hospital "G. Papanikolaou" in Thessaloniki, Greece, where he received his specialty degree in Pulmonology in 2005. Dr. Steiropoulos has published over 246 articles in PubMed-indexed peer-reviewed journals which received until now more than 5,900 citations (h-index: 38), and he is the author of 18 book chapters. He is the Director of M.Sc. in Sleep Medicine (Medical School, Democritus University of Thrace, Alexandroupolis, Greece), President of the Research Foundation on Respiratory and Sleep Disorders (Alexandroupolis, Greece), and Vice President of the Hellenic Society of Hypnology. He had been awarded 5 scholarships and 30 grants for different scientific projects on Sleep and Respiratory Medicine. His major research interests focus on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma, sleep-related breathing disorders, and interstitial lung diseases.
