Dr. Brittney S Zimmerman joined Northwell Health in 2021 as an attending physician in medical oncology and hematology. She’s also an assistant professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. She earned her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, followed by a residency and a fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She has presented at national conferences about breast cancer, telehealth, and oncology innovation. She runs the Peconic Bay Medical Center tumor board conference, which brings together a team of specialists to review patient cases and put together multidisciplinary treatment plans.

Dr. Francisco J Esteva earned his MD and Ph.D. at the University of Zaragoza School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Cooper University Hospital and a fellowship in medical oncology at Georgetown University Medical Center. This path led him to the Department of Breast Medical Oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he grew into the role of a tenured full professor, focusing on targeted therapy in oncology. In 2013, he joined NYU Langone Health as the Director of Breast Medical Oncology and Associate Director of Clinical Investigation. In 2021, he transitioned to Lenox Hill Hospital. Here, he’s serving as the Chief of the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology and as the Director of Breast Cancer Translational Research at the Northwell Health Cancer Institute. He also teaches as a Professor of Medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. A major part of his career has been dedicated to advancing treatments and immunotherapies for breast cancer. He has worked on groundbreaking therapies like trastuzumab, pertuzumab, and lapatinib, and he and his team have extensively researched resistance mechanisms to HER2-targeted therapies. He’s committed to patient care and education, underscored by his board certification in medical oncology and his roles as a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation.
