Dr Tiffany W. O'Connor is a veterinary virologist at the NSW Department of Industry. She graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours I) from the University of Sydney in 2013 and attained membership by examination to the Epidemiology Chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in 2021. She is currently completing her PhD in the epidemiology virology and diagnostics of a newly identified Simbu serogroup virus in Australia. Her research topics mainly include viral diseases of commercial livestock, wildlife, and aquatic animal species.
Dr Deborah S. Finlaison is the Principal Veterinary Virologist for the Virology Laboratory at the Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute, NSW Department of Primary Industries, NSW, Australia. She graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Science (Veterinary) (1993) and in Veterinary Science in 1995. She completed her PhD. in 2010 on "Studies of the porcine myocarditis syndrome". Her research interests mainly include animal viral disease diagnosis and research, Bungowannah virus, pestiviruses, caprine arthritis encephalitis virus, arbovirus infections of livestock, and host–pathogen interactions.
Dr Peter D. Kirkland is a senior principal research scientist and the Leader of the Animal Virology Team at the Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute, Menangle, Department of Primary Industries, New South Wales Government, Australia. He earned a BVSc from the University of Sydney, and a PhD from the University of Newcastle. In 1975, He worked as a veterinary officer at Newcastle and began his DPI career. His research topics mainly include diagnostic testing for viral diseases in animals and aquatic species, the epidemiology and control of insect-borne infections in livestock, and pestivirus infections in livestock.
Dr Jenny-Ann L.M.L. Toribio is an associate professor of epidemiology at the University of Sydney. She graduated in veterinary science from the University of Queensland (UQ) in 1989 with First Class Honours. She worked in mixed and small animal veterinary practices in Broken Hill, Melbourne, and Brisbane before completing a PhD. in veterinary epidemiology and livestock production at UQ in 1999. After completing postdoctoral work at UQ, she was appointed to the University of Sydney. Her research topics mainly include transboundary animal disease, biosecurity, and epidemiological studies.
