Author Biographies

Dr. Laura Shiromi David has a position as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Poultry Nutrition and is currently at the School of Agriculture and Environment, Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand. She received her B.Sc. with First Class in Agriculture from the Eastern University Sri Lanka in 2006, M.Phil. in Poultry Science and Technology from the University of Peradeniya in 2013, and Ph.D. in Animal Science (Poultry Nutrition) from the Massey University of New Zealand in 2021. Her research interests are in the coverage of poultry nutrition, with a primary emphasis on mineral nutrition, especially calcium and its digestibility. Because of the novelty of her Ph.D. research findings on the measurement of calcium digestibility in feed ingredients for broilers and laying hens and of digestible calcium requirements for broiler chickens, her theses received an honor of inclusion in the Dean’s list of exceptional doctoral theses. She has gained fourteen years of academic and research background in animal science both in New Zealand and overseas.

She received her B.Sc. in Animal production from the University of Nusa Cendana, Kupang, Indonesia, M.Agr.St. in Poultry Nutrition from the University of Queensland, Australia, and Ph.D. in Nutritional Science from the Massey University, New Zealand. She teaches courses in Poultry Feed Technology, Feed Quality Control, Animal Feed Toxicology, Poultry Nutrition, Feed Analysis, Experimental Design, Processing of Non-Ruminant Concentrates, and Laboratory Techniques. She is also active as a resource person in activities community service and feed training for farmer groups and those collaborating with government or other agencies.
