Prof. Marcello Maida obtained his MD degree in 2009, and graduated in Gastroenterology at the University of Palermo in 2015 and received a II-level specialization Master's in Interventional Endoscopy at Cattolica University Rome in 2018. Since 2023, he has been an Associated Professor of Gastroenterology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Enna ‘Kore’ Italy. He has documented research activity with more than 130 full papers peer reviewed in Pubmed in the field of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. He is currently a member of the steering committee of the Italian Society of Gastroenterology (SIGE).
Dr. Endrit Shahini is currently a Gastroenterologist, Endoscopist, and Clinical Researcher at the National Institute of Gastroenterology - IRCCS “Saverio de Bellis” in Castellana Grotte (Bari), Italy. Dr. Endrit Shahini received his Medicine and Surgery degrees from the University of Bari, "Aldo Moro" (Bari, Puglia, Italy) in 2012 and obtained a Postgraduate Master's in 2020. Dr. Endrit Shahini earned the SIUMB National Ultrasound Certificate in 2018 at the University of Bologna (“Sant'Orsola" Hospital, Bologna, Emilia Romagna, Italy). From 2018 to 2020, he worked as a Gastroenterologist, Endoscopist, and Clinical Researcher at the Candiolo Cancer Institute in Piemonte. He has been a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Gastroenterology Hospital "Saverio de Bellis" since 2021. His research directions are gastroenterology and endoscopy.
Dr. Daryl Ramai is currently a Fellow at The University of Utah Health, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He received his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine. Dr. Daryl Ramai has been awarded the ACG Outstanding Research Award. Dr. Daryl Ramai's research interests include innovation in the use of therapeutic endoscopy and interventional endoscopic ultrasound for treating oncologic gastrointestinal conditions.
Prof. Gaetano Serviddio is a professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Foggia. He completed his MD at the University of Foggia from 1991–1998. He worked in the research field of redox biology in liver diseases at the University of Turin (Italy) and Valencia (Spain) from 1999 to 2003, when he moved to the University of Foggia where he founded the University Centre for the Research and Treatment of liver diseases (C.U.R.E.). The center encompasses the management of acute and chronic viral hepatitis and encourages and supports research in nonalcoholic fatty liver diseases (NAFLD). He has been awarded as an investigator from the Italian Society of Internal Medicine and from the European Association for the Study of Liver Disease and in 2012 he was granted from the Society for Free Radical Research Europe with the prestigious “Catherine Pasquier Award” for his research in liver diseases. He is a member of the SFRR-E council. He has published more than 100 publications on Liver disorders. His scientific and clinical activities mainly focus on Hepatology, management of patients’ chronic liver diseases, Experimental model of biliary cirrhosis (Bile Duct Ligation), Ischemia/reperfusion injury (Pre- and post-conditioning of the liver and kidney) and Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (MCD diet), human and experimental conditions associated with oxidative stress and glutathione changes in plasma, erythrocytes, liver, mitochondria.
Dr. Antonio Facciorusso is an Assistant Professor at the University of Foggia after he finished his PhD (2019) there. He graduated from The San Raffaele University in Milan in 2009 and completed his residency program in Gastroenterology at the University of Bari in 2015. From 2017 to 2020, he was a staff physician in the gastroenterology and Endoscopy Unit of Policlinico Riuniti in Foggia. He authored more than 300 scientific articles in international journals, two books on gastrointestinal endoscopy, and several book chapters. He is currently a member of the Guidelines Committee of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) and a member of the Italian Association for the Study of Pancreas (AISP) and the Italian Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy (SIGE). His research focused mainly on interventional and diagnostic endoscopy and hepato-oncology.
