Schettini Rosaria received her M.S. in Chemistry at the University of Salerno in 2013. In the same year, she obtained a national award for young graduates from the Interdivisional Group of Catalysis (GIC) of the Italian Chemical Society. In 2016, she completed her Ph.D. degree in organic synthesis and asymmetric catalysis under the supervision of Prof. Irene Izzo and Prof. Giorgio Della Sala. She joined the research group of Prof. José Alemán Lara at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. From 2016 to 2019, she obtained a Postdoc position at the University of Salerno, working on the synthesis of cyclic peptoids for glycosidase inhibition in collaboration with the University of Strasbourg. In 2020, she was employed at IRBM Science Park as a research scientist of peptide chemistry, in the research group of Dr. Elisabetta Bianchi, involved in the synthesis of PCSK9 inhibitors. Her main scientific interests are the synthesis of cyclic peptoids, with biological applications as MRI contrast agents and applications in asymmetric catalysis. She is currently a researcher at the Department of Chemistry and Biology “A. Zambelli”. at the University of Salerno.
Giorgio Della Sala received his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Salerno in 2002 under the guidance of Prof. Arrigo Scettri. He worked as a visiting scientist in the labs of Dr. Susagna Ricart at the Department of Molecular Materials of Materials Science Institute of Barcelona (CSIC) in 2003, and of Prof. Karl Anker Jørgensen at the Center for Catalysis, University of Aarhus in 2007. He has been assistant professor in 2004-2020 and associate professor since 2020 at the Department of Chemistry and Biology "A. Zambelli" of the University of Salerno, and he obtained the abilitation to the rank of full professor in 2023. His research is mainly focused on the development of stereoselective metal- and organo-catalyzed methodologies, and their application to the synthesis of biologically active compounds.
