Eleni V. Geladari is a graduate of the Medical School of the University of Patras. In 2010, she moved to the USA where she completed her postdoctoral cardiovascular fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard University, under the mentorship of Maria Irene Kontaridis. In 2013, she also became a clinical and translational research fellow at the Laboratory of Professor Christos Mantzoros at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, in Harvard Medical School. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the First Department of Internal Medicine of Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens, Greece. During her residency, she spent six months in the USA as a Clinical Research Fellow at the Hypertension and Vascular Medicine Clinic, in the Department of Medicine, Veterans Administration Medical Center, a program affiliated with the Georgetown University Hospital under the guidance of Professor Vasilios Papademetriou. She has been a Master of Science Candidate in Gastrenterology at South Wales University, since 2019. In 2019, she became an attending physician at the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine, Medical School, at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, at “Hippokration” Hospital, in Athens, Greece. In parallel, she works as a Research Fellow at the Outpatient Center for the Liver Diseases under the mentorship of Professor Spyridon Ntourakis. In 2020, she became a co-founder of the Hellenic Society of Environmental and Climate Medicine.
Natalia G. Vallianou is a graduate of the Medical School of the University of Thessaly. She completed her Master’s degree and her PhD at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She has worked as an attending physician at the First Department of Internal Medicine of Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens, Greece, since 2012. Previously, she worked as an attending physician at Polikliniki Hospital in Athens, Greece, and as a scientific collaborator of the Infectious Diseases Outpatient Office at the Laikon General Hospital. Her research and clinical interests include infectious diseases and diabetology. She has published over 131 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and has participated in several research projects and meetings.
Dimitris C. Kounatidis, MD, MS and PhD Candidate is a graduate of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is currently completing his residency training at the First Department of Internal Medicine at Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens, Greece. During his training at the Evangelismos General Hospital, he became familiar with several clinical cases and treatment protocols and he gained significant experience in Evidence-Based Medicine. In parallel, he is a Master of Science Candidate in Arterial Hypertension and Related Cardiovascular – Kidney Diseases at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, while he is also completing his PhD thesis, wherein he studies the effect of T3 thyroid hormone in cardioplegia in heart transplantation. His research and clinical interests include hypertension and diabetology, in which he intends to become a specialist in the near future.
Vassilios Sevastianos is an attending physician in Internal Medicine and Hepatology at the 4th Department of Internal Medicine and Liver Outpatient Clinic, "Evangelismos" General Hospital. He graduated from the Aristotle University Medical School and acquired his specialty in Internal Medicine in 2003. After assuming the duties of the scientific associate in the Department of Internal Medicine and Hepatology, "Henry Dunant" Hospital, he became an attending physician in the same department. At the end of 2007, he carried his activities to "Evangelismos" General Hospital. In 2010, he presented his Ph.D. thesis and accepted an "Excellent" degree. Since 2012, he took scientific responsibility for the Hepatology Outpatient Clinic, 4th Department of Internal Medicine, "Evangelismos" General Hospital. In 2014, he trained as an Honorary Consultant in Clinical Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at King's College Hospital, Institute of Liver Studies. His research activities mainly focus on various fields in Hepatology. He has participated in several important national and international clinical trials. He is a member of several scientific medical societies. He participated in the writing of book chapters published by international and local publishers. He presented as an invited speaker for many lectures, contributed as chairman in round tables, and was a member of the organizing and scientific committee in national medical congresses.
Alexandra Alexopoulou, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Medicine at Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2022–today). She is a member of the European Association for the Study of Liver (EASL)—(1994–today). She is also an editorial board member of the World Journal of Gastroenterology (2008–2018); the Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology (2021–present); and Annals of Gastroenterology (2022–present). She is a reviewer of 156 manuscript peer-reviews for 33 international journals. She was awarded scholarships for students from the Greek Government (1981–1985), a scholarship from the A. Onassis Foundation (1993–1996), a scholarship of the Hellenic Association for the Study of the Liver (1995–1996), awards for Presentations in Greek Meetings (five times, 2012–2016), and the Best Researcher Award from the American Association for the Study of the Liver meeting or Digestive Disease Week (three times). She has published more than 120 papers in journals with IF > 10 with 3015 citations. Her H-index is 32 (Google Scholar). Her main scientific activities are mostly focused on clinical research in Hepatology and Internal Medicine.
