Author Biographies

Dr. Nicolò Bisi is a Post-Doc researcher at Vrije Universiteit Brussel in the ORGC Team led by Prof. Steven Ballet, specializing in the synthesis and evaluation of peptidomimetics to modulate protein–protein interaction. He obtained a MSc. Pharm. in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia, after an Erasmus+ for Studies Scholarship at Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne (Prof. Stéphane Gérard Research Team). He obtained his double Ph.D. degree in the frame of the TubInTrain European Joint Doctorate Project (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Scholarship) in July 2023, after discussing his thesis entitled "Inducing β-hairpin and α-helix folding in peptides: design, synthesis and evaluation of α-synuclein and Tau aggregation inhibitors", where he worked on peptidomimetics to counteract amyloidosis in neurodegenerative diseases. His former supervisors are Prof. Sandrine Ongeri (BioCIS, Université Paris-Saclay) and Prof. Roland Brandt (Neurobiology Department, University of Osnabrück).
Luca Pinzi is a Dedicated Research fellow with experience in research in the area of medicinal chemistry. He achieved his M.Sc. (February 2014) in Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology and his second-level Master's degree (October 2014) in “Drug Design and Synthesis” at the University of Siena. Afterward, he obtained his PhD (March 2018) in Clinical and Experimental Medicine at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. His expertise is in the fields of Drug Discovery, Molecular Modeling, Drug Design, Docking, Molecular Docking, Cheminformatics and Computational Chemistry, and Virtual Screening.
Giulio Rastelli is a Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Head of the Modelling and drug Design Laboratory at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy). His research interests are focused on the development of computational drug design methods and their application in drug discovery. He coordinates or participates in several drug discovery projects, which can count on a consolidated network of collaborating institutions (national and international) working on biology, pharmacology, chemical synthesis, and crystallography. He is an invited member of the F1000 Faculty in the “Drug Discovery & Design” section.
Dr. Nicolò Tonali currently works as an Assistant Professor at the Université Paris-Saclay, France. He obtained his Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry at the Université Paris-Saclay. He was a visiting scholar during his Ph.D. period at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (DISFARM), University of Milan, in 2014. He continued his PostDoc in Organic Chemistry at the Bielefeld University and in Molecular Engineering of Proteins (SIMOPRO) at the Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission, France.
