Weihua Guan is an Associate Professor at the Division of Biostatistics and Health Data Science, University of Minnesota. He received his BS degree in Chemistry from Peking University, his MS degree in Statistics from Texas A&M University, and his PhD degree in Biostatistics from the University of Michigan. His research focuses on statistical genetics and the identification of genes involved in complex diseases and traits, with a special emphasis on developing statistical and analytical methods for genetic data with new high-throughput technologies.

Jun Dai is a tenured Professor in the Master’s Program of Public Health (MPH) at Des Moines University College of Health Sciences and an NIH-funded Principal Investigator. She received her MD in 1991, her MS in 1998 from China, and her PhD from Emory University in 2008 in the U.S. She previously worked as an Assistant Professor at Indiana University, Bloomington, and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in the U.S. and as an Associate Professor at Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in China. Her research topics mainly include cardiometabolic diseases (such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity), nutrition and other environmental factors, epigenetics (i.e., (hydroxy)methylation and miRNA), and other pathophysiological mechanisms among twins and other populations. The recent courses she teaches include Public Health Biology, Basic Statistics, and Epidemiology.
