Mohamed Ammar is a postdoctoral researcher at Lehigh University. He graduated from Assuit University in 2008 and received a Master’s degree in solid-state physics from Cairo University in 2014. He holds a PhD in solid-state physics from Zagazig University, earned in 2017. He served as a physics lecturer at Zagazig High Institute of Engineering and Technology from 2017 to 2019 and a nanophysics lecturer (USA: tenure track assistant professor) at Suez University from 2019 to 2023. His work revolves around the development of cutting-edge materials, particularly fertilizers, biomedical applications, and wastewater utilization. He has worked as a principal investigator (PI) on two funded projects: The first one was to develop nanofibers doped with plant extractions and other substances to be used for filtration in respiratory face masks for health workers dealing with COVID-19. The second aimed to study hydroxyapatite doped with some elements, with/without nanofibers, to be sued for wound healing applications. He specializes in the creation of nanocomposites featuring hydroxyapatite, graphene oxide, and calcium phosphate compositions, and leveraging state-of-the-art electrospin machines to produce nanofibers.
Diego Alexander Gonzalez Casamachin is a postdoctoral researcher at Lehigh University. He is an accomplished chemical engineer with both a master's and Ph.D. in sustainable processes (from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León), and is driven by a passion for innovation and environmental sustainability. Over the past seven or more years, he has led impactful research and development initiatives focused on pioneering novel materials as catalysts. These materials are instrumental in the development of groundbreaking technologies poised to redefine and fortify the foundation of a sustainable alternative to the traditional petrochemical cycle.
Jonas Baltrusaitis has been an associate professor in chemical and biomolecular engineering at Lehigh University (Bethlehem, PA, USA) since 2019. He received his BS in 1998 and MS in 2000 from Kaunas University of Technology (Kaunas, Lithuania), and he earned a PhD in physical chemistry (Department of Chemistry) from the University of Iowa (Iowa City, IA, USA) in 2007. His research interests mainly include catalysis and nanoparticles, surface chemistry, environmental aspects of energy conversion and utilization, fossil fuel refining, synthesis, and conversion, engineering processes for enhanced sustainability, solid waste treatment and reuse, water and wastewater treatment, environmental catalysis, the fate and transport of contaminants and pathogens, and environmental remediation.
